Where the vision started...
......before I even realised it!
In 2023, after seven years of divorce recovery and soul-searching, I needed a new surname.
Not my ex-husband's. Not my maiden name (cheers for the school bullying, that one's staying buried).
Something that actually meant something.
I researched names for months!
Toyed with Murphy, a beloved pet's name (but too Irish - I'm very Scottish).
Considered Archibald (my granddad's name, but too posh). Tested variations of family names.
Nothing stuck.

Thinking 'outside the box' I started investigating my 'tagline' words in other languages...
And there it was...
Japanese for BOLD - Dai Tan
Still wasn't quite right though, so I joined the words and added an 'i' for flow, et voila...
Bold
That's who I was choosing to be.
And here's the mad part...
I chose that name over a year before I discovered AI would become my entire business mission - my legacy project.

The 'AI' was literally in my name before I even knew what I was building.
You may call it coincidence...
I call it the universe secretly setting me up for what was coming!
OK, not actually ON oil platforms but I did spend 30 years in the very corporate oil and gas industry - everything from admin and office support to multi-hatted Facilities Management. The kind of work where you somehow keep everything running but where nobody notices until something breaks.
And at 39, I broke.
Perimenopause hit.
And nobody could tell me
that's what it was.
Seven years of absolute chaos followed:
Lost 5 jobs back to back...
Got divorced...
Relocated (ie downsized/ downgraded) 3 times...
Had a complete mental health breakdown...
Finally got diagnosed and went on HRT...
Almost immediately - HRT went into global shortage!
Forgot to keep checking for it (brain fog x ADHD brain at it's finest)...
Went a full year without HRT...
Got put back on the wrong type - for another full year...
Experienced severe flooding as a result...
Ended up having a hysterectomy earlier this year!
Somewhere in the middle of all that, I became actively involved in raising menopause awareness - and certainly in part, out of sheer fury and frustration, that women are left to figure this shit out alone!
I attended many Menopause Mandate events and their cause has made significant progress improving medical education, increasing access to HRT, reducing the prescription cost by way of the 'HRT Prepayment Certificate' and most recently - having menopause being specifically included in the 40+ health check (I mean, WTF that it wasn't already?!?)
Along with some incredible entrepreneurs, businesses and yes, celebrities - we've made a lot of noise! I'm grateful to now know so many of the most impactful names in the UK menopause world which gives me great insight and the ability to direct others to the most reliable sources of information.
I did this, not because I particularly wanted to be an activist - but because I had no choice.
It was my duty and responsibility to use MY voice, share MY story and empower others to do the same.
The (very) unexpected plot twist:
Modelling!
Right in the middle of my perimenopause hell, I was offered a magazine feature that required a photoshoot. I've hated cameras my entire life.
Proper loathing. Literally RUNNING from them!
But something made me say yes.
And I bloody LOVED it!
Turns out, when you've dragged yourself through everything I'd experienced, posing for a camera is nothing. And in fact, I found confidence I didn't know existed.
Since then there's been:

a (tasteful) nude shoot for a national paper

a (very) risqué boudoir shoot - in nothing but neon paint

walking on outdoor runways in a swimwear (twice)

becoming a founding member of a beach body campaign with other awesome midlife models

participation in an 'UNMASKED' shoot which culminated in an exhibition and magazine feature

and more!
SO, HERE'S MY TRUTH
I'm at my biggest size.
And also my most confident!
That's not coincidence.
That's what happens when you stop giving a shit about other people's opinions and start building a life that's actually authentically yours.
